K.A.D. George Michael was born on September 29th 1950. He has obtained a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Sri Jayawardenapura followed by a Masters degree in Public Administration.
He started his career in 1983 as an Assistant Commissioner at the National Housing Department and was appointed to Ministry of Education as an Assistant Secretary in 1986. In 1990 he was appointed as an Assistant Secretary at Ministry of Public Administration. George Michael also held the position of Registrar at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration in 1994 followed by the appointment as the Management Consultant at Sri Lanka Institute of Development Administration in 1995. |

Taking a new turn in career, he took over as the Senior Assistant Secretary for Tourism in 1997 at the then Ministry of Tourism and Civil Aviation and was later promoted as the Additional Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism. His current appointment as the Secretary at the Ministry of Tourism came into effect in 2008. |
