An advisory panel on community based tourism was appointed by the Hon. Ministers by the letter dated April 19, 2007 with a view to develop the Community Based Tourism in Sri Lanka.
A workshop was held on 17/07/2007 at Hotel Samudra, with the participation of Community based tourism organisations (CBO) in Sri Lanka in order to obtain first hand information on CBO's involved in tourism and also to identify project proposals for implementation. The final report of the panel on community based tourism has been compiled including the comments received from the participants and the summary details of project proposals identified for implementation and also suggestions for sustainable development of community based tourism in Sri Lanka. The report was handed over to the Hon. Minister on March 26, 2008.
